Mahipal Singh Makrana says—‘The upper-caste community will make both parties realize the power of their vote

Bikaner, September 1. Amidst the municipal body elections, the Shri Rajput Karni Sena has opened a front against political parties, announcing a boycott of both the BJP and the Congress. Speaking to reporters in Bikaner on Tuesday, Karni Sena National President Mahipal Singh Makrana stated that if the government fails to take concrete steps regarding the UGC-related issue in a timely manner, the agitation will be intensified.

Referring to the rally held in Jaipur, Makrana noted that attempts were made to suppress the movement there through the use of water cannons and lathi-charges against women, but asserted that their agitation would not be halted by such measures. He stated that the demand for a rollback regarding the UGC issue would continue until the government gives the matter serious consideration.

‘No votes for either party this time’

Regarding the municipal elections, Makrana announced that the Karni Sena is calling for a boycott of both the Congress and the BJP. He remarked that while the Congress makes objectionable comments about the upper-caste community, the BJP operates under the assumption that upper-caste voters have nowhere else to go but to them.

Makrana stated that the upper-caste community would demonstrate its political strength by boycotting both parties in these elections. Describing himself as a core voter for both parties, he asserted that a response would be delivered through the power of the vote in this election.

‘Agitation will intensify if a decision isn't made in time’

Warning the government on the UGC issue, Makrana stated that the situation is creating inter-community conflict. He urged the government to take a concrete decision on the matter promptly, warning that the agitation would otherwise expand significantly in the coming days.

He mentioned that opposition to the UGC was voiced during the Jaipur rally, with pledges taken in the names of Lord Parashuram and Goddess Bhagwati. He alleged that attempts are being made to sow discord—via the UGC issue—between the Rajput community and other communities with whom they have long-standing social ties.

Criticism regarding the padyatra (foot march) also addressed

Makrana also responded to the mockery directed at the Karni Sena’s padyatra. He stated that the padyatra (foot march) was mocked and dismissed as a mere stunt, even though foot marches have played a pivotal role in major movements across the country.

He noted that the community has already demonstrated its strength through rallies in Jaipur and Haryana. He warned that if the central government fails to take concrete action regarding the UGC issue, the protests will intensify, and the government will be held responsible.
