The thrill of thundering hooves and player skill begins in Jaipur today: The September Polo Season kicks off

Jaipur. The 'Pink City' of Jaipur is once again set to immerse itself in the spirit of polo. The annual September Polo Season 2026, organized by the Rajasthan Polo Club, kicks off on Tuesday, September 1. This prestigious season, spanning nearly two months, will continue until October 25. During this time, renowned players, horsemen, and polo enthusiasts from across the country and abroad will gather at Jaipur's polo grounds.

Experience the thrill of polo at night this time

A highlight of this year's season will be the night matches. The Rajasthan Polo Club has installed floodlights at the venue. Consequently, the finals of certain tournaments and exhibition matches will be played at night under floodlights. The combination of high-speed horses, strategic gameplay, and a brightly illuminated field will offer spectators a brand-new polo experience.

Kicking off with the RPC Cup

The season's opening match will be the RPC Cup (4-goal), played from September 1 to 6. This will be followed by another RPC Cup (4-goal) tournament from September 7 to 13.

Next, the Chinkara Polo Championship (6-goal) will take place from September 14 to 20. Meanwhile, the Army Commanders Cup (6-goal) will be held at the 61 Cavalry Ground from September 21 to 27. The Jaipur Junior Open Under-21 competition will also be organized during this period.

Major matches continue into October

The excitement of the polo season will extend into October. According to the schedule, the Bhavnagar Polo Trophy (8-goal) will be played from September 28 to October 4, the Sawai Man Guard Cup (8-goal) from October 5 to 11, and the General Amar Singh Kanota Cup (6-goal) from October 12 to 18. The season will conclude with the BM Birla Cup (4-goal) from October 19 to 25.

Exhibition matches to be a key attraction

Special exhibition matches will also draw spectators during the season. The FHTR Exhibition Polo Match is scheduled for September 18, and the Mayo Polo Cup is proposed for October 10. Additionally, there is a proposal to host an international junior test match on November 1, 2026.

Focus on connecting the new generation with the polo legacy

According to the Rajasthan Polo Club, alongside carrying forward Jaipur's polo tradition, special emphasis is being placed this time on encouraging young and female players. The club also boasts a rich history; the polo club in Jaipur was established in 1918, and following the formation of Rajasthan, it was renamed the Rajasthan Polo Club in 1957.
