Polo Thrills Kick Off in Jaipur; Team Jaipur Scores a Resounding Victory in the Opening Match

Jaipur. The 'Pink City' is once again resonating with the sound of galloping hooves and the thrill of polo. The annual September Polo Season 2026, organized by the Rajasthan Polo Club, has kicked off in grand style. In the opening match, Team Jaipur displayed exceptional skill, defeating the Rambagh Mayfair Polo team 7–3. The standout performer was Jaipur’s Padmanabh Singh, who scored all seven of his team's goals in a magnificent display.

Padmanabh Singh’s seven goals propel Team Jaipur—Team Jaipur adopted an aggressive approach right from the start. Padmanabh Singh maintained constant pressure on the opposition through superb riding and precise shots. He single-handedly scored seven goals, securing a decisive lead for his team.

Although the Rambagh Mayfair team attempted a comeback, they could not sustain the challenge against Team Jaipur’s strong performance. Ultimately, Jaipur won the match with a score of 7–3.

Polo season runs from September 1 to October 25

The Rajasthan Polo Club’s September Polo Season is being held from September 1 to October 25, 2026. Several prestigious tournaments and exhibition matches will take place during this period. A special feature of this year's event is that some finals and exhibition matches will be played at night under floodlights. The season began with the RPC Cup (4-Goal), the first phase of which runs from September 1 to 6. This will be followed by another RPC Cup tournament from September 7 to 13.

A lineup of major matches in September—Jaipur will witness several major polo matches throughout September. The Chinkara Polo Championship is scheduled for September 14–20, followed by the Army Commanders Cup from September 21–27. The Jaipur Junior Open Under-21 competition is also proposed to be held during this period. Following this, the Bhavnagar Polo Trophy will be played from September 28 to October 4, the Sawai Man Guard Cup from October 5 to 11, the General Amar Singh Kanota Cup from October 12 to 18, and the BM Birla Cup from October 19 to 25.

Exhibition matches will also be a highlight; spectators will get to witness special exhibition matches during the polo season. The FHTR Exhibition Polo Match will be held on September 18, and the Mayo Polo Cup on October 10. Additionally, an international junior test match is proposed for November 1, 2026.

The thrill of polo under floodlights—To make the spectator experience even more special, the Rajasthan Polo Club has arranged for some matches to be played at night. Floodlights have already been installed at the ground. This will give spectators the opportunity to watch exciting polo matches under lights, alongside the daytime games.

Efforts to carry forward Jaipur's polo legacy—The Rajasthan Polo Club has a long history. It began as the Jaipur Polo Club in 1918 and was renamed the Rajasthan Polo Club following the formation of the state of Rajasthan in 1957. The club continues to play a vital role in upholding Jaipur's rich polo tradition. Emphasis is also being placed on encouraging young and female players. Meanwhile, training in horse riding and polo is being promoted through the Sawai Man Singh Polo and Riding Academy.
